Well, Once Upon a Time made a point of having Henry say that Frankenstein wasn’t even a fairy tale. However, the comic book Fables also had the Big Bad Wolf run into Frankenstein’s monster once. However, Bigby Wolf (as he’s called in the comic) comes from the Homelands where all the other fairy tale creatures come from while the comic suggested that Frankenstein’s monster came from regular old Earth. Though, I think maybe it’s not so much that Frankenstein is being seen as a fairy tale. With scholars and internet sites going on and on about the supposed dark roots of fairy tales (which is a generalization and thus not entirely true), maybe it’s that people are seeing fairy tales as not being so different from horror stories.
